Low and behold, it is also a great place to get all this crap:
I mean, what can you say? The cheapest version of pretty much anything you can think of that you can sell for $1. Buttt.....it says "a portion of the proceeds will benefit Breast Cancer Research", so it must be good, right?
I didn't even get a strange look when I put all this stuff out on the ground for a picture.
In case you can't see it, there are pink ribbon shoelaces, head bands, barretes, gift bags, post-its, scarves, buckets, magnet picture frames, a stuffed rose, socks, gloves, gel stick on things, etc. I was already familiar with this area as a few years ago when I worked at ACS, Target called me to donate their leftover pink ribbon stuff. Among the box of goodies? Pink ribbon note pads and pink ribbon playing cards. Yah, that happened. Pink ribbon playing cards. So, back to this year at Super Target.
Warning Sign #1: No specific organization is listed. As we've learned, not entirely credible, but still better than nothing.
Warning Sign #2: No specific amout or percentage listed. I mean, at least commit to something, even if it is a pittance.
Warning Sign #3: Well I just couldnt resist calling. So, the prompt at "DGI Companies" picks
up and I decide to hit "0" for an operator. Ring, ring, ring, no answer until another prompt..."the person at extension whatever is not answering, to leave a voicemail, press "0"". Surprise, the voicemail box was full.
Ok, let's try this again. This time, I stay on through the prompt and wait for the voice to say "for assistance, please stay on the line". Ok, I'm staying on the line. Next voice "you are not leaving the system". Wait, what?
And this is the organzation that I'm going to trust to be a steward of the hard earned money that I am spending on pink ribbon shoelaces.
